Project Description

Responsiveness and quality were the keys to this office interiors project in Glasgow for FDM Group. Moving to their new Glasgow centre, FDM needed an immediate solution to fit out the building. We were able to respond with an extremely quick turn around, preparing design proposals, developing the brief and providing costings.

Global leaders

FDM Group is a professional services provider with a focus on IT. They are the UK’s leading IT graduate employer and a rapidly expanding global company with offices in London, Hong Kong, New York and many other locations across the world. A prestigious address

The new Glasgow office is part of a top quality development at 1 West Regent Street, Glasgow. The new build city centre offices were completed in 2015 as a landmark Grade A development with other companies moving into the building including Weir Group (HQ), Global Radio and Arups.

FDM needed an interior fit out that would meet and exceed other recent FDM relocations.  Jon comments, “Each time we deliver a new office we aim to learn something from the previous projects and Axis’ responsiveness meant that we could make improvements to the office design and then see them realised at the implementation stages.”

Tight timescales

Initially, the project demanded an extremely quick response to provide design proposals, develop the brief and provide costings. From our initial meeting with the client in London we provided detailed space plan options, fully detailed specifications along with fully itemised costs. Following negotiations further designs were produced along with a fully prepared fixed cost quotation, all within one week.

On award of the contract we were able to immediately mobilise our contracts team and supply chain partners to commence the works. Once on site for the 12 week project, Axis Solutions met every deadline the client requested at all stages of the process. Jon says, “I admit we have high expectations when it comes to timescales.  We try and manage the interior fit out stages to be as streamlined as possible and to move rapidly from award of contract to completion. Axis understood this and their considerable experience was invaluable when it came to ensuring that delivery was not only on time but also of a high standard through every stage of the project from design to implementation.”

Site meetings were scheduled for every 2 weeks and Sheila Flavell, Chief Operating Officer, said “We like to have a hands-on approach to these projects and Axis proved most accommodating at ensuring our change requests were actioned without delay and often without impacting the agreed cost. They were a pleasure to work with ”
