Axis has provided comprehensive storage solutions at First Glasgow’s £20m new headquarters and depot on Cathcart Road on the south side of Glasgow.
Solutions for Caledonia
The site, which has been named ‘Caledonia’ by First Glasgow staff, was used for the first time during Glasgow 2014, when plans were factored into the construction schedule to enable it to operate up to 280 vehicles during the Games (around 75% of the capacity of the ten acre site when fully operational).
Total storage requirements
First Bus contacted Axis back in January and asked us to design the new main stores and Regional Repair Centre. The first stage of the work was the installation of lockers, which were in place for the Commonwealth Games. Following this work came an order for shelving, racking, specialised drawer cabinets, workbenches and hazardous cabinets, which have all now been installed. Axis were able to meet the total range of storage requirements for the depot, making this an attractive option for First Bus,
Scott Kyle, Sales Executive at Axis, comments, “Axis has supplied industrial storage solutions to First Bus at Blantyre, Scotstoun, Dumbarton, Cumbernauld, Parkhead and Overton. The inside knowledge we already have of how First Bus operates makes all the difference and means that we are able to design highly functional storage facilities. That’s why First Bus came back to us for this project at their new headquarters. Also, we were able to offer the full range of storage solutions they required, meaning this was a real one-stop solution for them.”
