New interior design and fit-out for sandwich giants, Greencore.
When the UK’s largest sandwich producer were kitting out a new base at Clyde Gateway, Glasgow they needed the right principal contractor to take the lead on the project.
Axis Solutions delivered an office extension and warehouse fit out, making the best use of the new accommodation at Clyde Gateway in Glasgow, where Greencore were moving from their previous base in East Kilbride.
For us here at Axis, the project brought together expertise across both our interiors and our industrial storage divisions, meaning that we were ideally placed to offer the client the right solution.
The project, which was carried out in 2017 was won through a competitive tender. Through expert knowledge and dedicated project management we were able to deliver a successful interior design and fit-out project, managing all the complexities of the job and exceeding the customer’s expectations.
Consultants Knight Frank provided the opportunity for the project and Axis won the work in a competitive tender process. The overall value of the project was in excess of £400,000.
Fitting out the new office
The office space at the new Clyde Gateway premises needed to be extended and upgraded, including suspended ceiling and floor alterations, then finished, fitted out and decorated. The works included a new canteen and a meeting room as well as additional toilets and a new locker room. Our alternations to the reception area featured new bespoke reception units.
We kitted out the canteen with new furniture, creating an ideal space for staff to relax in their break time.
The warehouse and cold store
Keeping Greencore’s food products at just the right temperature is a vital element of the warehouse, so a large 30m by 8m cold store was an important aspect of the warehouse fit-out. We worked closely with Greencore’s own directly employed refrigeration contractor, managing the relationship to achieve the best result. We oversaw the installation of a walk-in-fridge within the cold store, all the associated M & E works and the creation of a concrete plinth for the condenser units.
The interior design and fit-out project also involved:
- New mesh partitioning to protect and secure Mechanical & Electrical plant and distribution boards.
- Low level barriers, edge protection to the mezzanine, hoop ladder installation.
These were the elements where the Axis interior team worked closely with the industrial storage experts to produce the best result for the client.
With the installation of CCTV, the new facilities at Clyde Gateway were completed and finished to a high standard. The project involved a high degree of co-ordination and careful project management was the key to the high quality of the overall project.
Moving out of East Kilbride
Following on from the success of the Clyde Gateway project Axis Solutions was awarded an additional piece of work. As Greencore moved to their new premises at Clyde Gateway there was a dilapidation project to complete at their previous premises in East Kilbride. We were pleased to take on this additional work, stripping out fittings and leaving the building ready for the next occupier to fit out.
