Coffee experts Matthew Algie were looking for a quality, branded interior with specialist equipment installed for training up baristas. Axis were able to offer a bespoke solution, rising to the challenge of creating a tailored showroom and training facility at their Glasgow base.
A Glasgow business
Matthew Algie is a long-established, well-known and much-loved Glasgow company, with a developed market across the UK and Ireland. Originally a supplier of tea, their business has grown to be predominantly coffee based, supplying coffee machines to the café and restaurant trade as well as coffee products.
Showroom and training facilities
With excellence and expertise very much in mind, the customer wanted to create a showroom and training facility for demonstrating their range of machines, and also for running training sessions for baristas. They appointed Axis to create a design scheme which gave prominence to the customer’s history and branding, as well as creating a striking environment for product demonstrations and training.
Specialised interior fit-out
The specialised interior fit-out project presented some technical challenges to create the perfect environment for barista training. We had to find the ideal solution to bring plumbing and electrical services to the coffee machines as unobtrusively as possible. And an interesting, innovative feature was the incorporation of angled mirrors above the machines to enable observation of trainees using the machines. Air conditioning was also vital to create a comfortable working environment.
The perfect environment for coffee school
Matthew Algie offers free training to their clients as well as commercially available courses for baristas. The new training facilities match the brand of the organisation and provide the ideal setting for training up the people who ultimately serve up the coffee.
