Project Description

The award winning new Morris Building has a prominent location on the route into the town and provides important storage, office, showroom and conference facilities.

The project brought together Axis’ skills in both industrial storage solutions and office interiors to make the very best use of the new building and equip it to exceptionally high standards.

The home of golf

St Andrews Links manages and operates seven golf courses in St Andrews, including the world famous Old Course. Their retail operation includes five shops in the town and an online store selling golfing products. The new facilities at The Morris Building provide state of the art offices and storage facilities to support the business.

An innovative building

The Morris Building has innovation at its heart with cutting-edge technology used in its heating and cooling systems. It also features organic materials in its
construction, including a sedum roof, which is supported by rainwater harvesting techniques.

Outstanding interior – industrial storage solutions and office interiors

The state-of-the-art office and
storage facilities are a key component of the Links’ commercial and retail operation. Axis designed and installed shelving and racking layouts for the warehouse facility, as well as planning and providing desks, seating, storage cabinets, meeting room furniture and soft furnishings for the offices. This created a comprehensive interiors solutions for the client, rather than having to deal with a range of suppliers for different aspects of the interior fit-out.

The specification for the interior had to meet the high standards of the overall build and was delivered to an exacting specification, paying close attention to the detail. A flexible approach was essential to delivering within the timescales, working closely with other contractors. The project was delivered on time and within the agreed budget.

The building incorporates open-plan offices, meeting rooms and a showroom for the first Tom Morris lifestyle clothing collection. On the first floor, the Morris Suite is used for conferencing, training, learning and development.

In 2013 the new £2 million office and warehouse was awarded the Dundee Institute of Architects (DIA) Best Public/Commercial Building Project Award.
